FallEdCon: the Fall Education Conference
MARESA’s flagship professional learning conference for educators across Marquette and Alger counties: one full day each fall with nationally recognized presenters and sessions built for teachers, by teachers.
Registration is handled by your district.
Districts register their attendees as a group through Jon Young at MARESA. Participants do not register themselves, and each year’s date, venues and app details are sent to districts with the conference announcement.

About the conference
FallEdCon brings together K-12 teachers, paraprofessional educators, early childhood staff and school mental health professionals from across the region for a full day of learning. The program pairs national talent with local voice: featured presenters in the main room, and breakout sessions led by Marquette and Alger county educators alongside invited experts.
Recent conferences have carried a continuing focus on visible learning, AI and change, and real-life application of learning. Sessions are action-oriented and hands-on, designed around usable takeaways you can put to work in your classroom the next day.
We read every conference survey and act on it. The strands, presenters and formats change from year to year in response to what educators tell us.
Who it is for
The conference runs as several strands on the same day. Your district coordinator will tell you which strand and location applies to you.
K-12 educators
All disciplines and grade levels. The main conference program: featured presenters and breakout sessions led by local educators and invited experts.
Paraprofessional educators
Free to attendA dedicated strand built around the work paraprofessionals do every day.
Early childhood educators
GSRP and junior kindergarten educators, with sessions planned by the MARESA early childhood team.
Mental health professionals
A focus strand for school mental health staff. A standard conference fee applies, arranged through your district.
Professional learning credits
These credit options are typically available. The exact offerings for each conference are confirmed with the announcement.
SCECHs
- Free for in-state educators
- Sign in and out on site using the QR codes posted at the conference
- Complete the conference feedback form
- Have your PIC number ready
Graduate credit
- Offered through Northern Michigan University (ED 596)
- Course registration details come with the conference announcement
Social Work CEUs
- Available through the Social Work CEU process
- Confirmed with each year's announcement
On the day
The conference app
FallEdCon runs on the Whova event app: the agenda, session picks, presenter information and day-of announcements all live there. The invitation code and the date to have the app ready by are sent with each year’s announcement. A help desk is available at the event for anyone who cannot or would rather not use the app.
Attendance and sign-in
Attendance and SCECH sign-in and sign-out are handled on site using the QR codes posted throughout the conference. Check-in details and venue guides for each strand come from your district coordinator before the day.
