Assessment and Diagnostic Services

Marquette-Alger RESA staff work in collaboration with local school district assessment teams to identify students with disabilities that adversely impact learning.

Assessment and diagnostic evaluations take into account the uniqueness of each child based on input from school personnel, parents, community professionals and significant others. The results of these evaluations are used to formulate individualized educational plans, including any accommodations or modifications necessary to promote student success.

School psychologists provide evaluations, behavioral assessments and consultations. Evaluations can include the assessment of intellectual functioning, academic performance, developmental and social-emotional functioning.

Teacher consultants provide academic, behavior, social-emotional assessments of students and consultation with school staff. School staff are provided with strategies and accommodations to enable students with learning and behavior challenges to progress in the general education curriculum.

School social workers intervene with students, student groups, parents and school professionals to address social-emotional factors impacting student success. These professionals provide a key link between school and home for students with a wide range of disabilities.
