About the Summit
The U.P. Principals’ Summit brings together school leaders from across Michigan’s Upper Peninsula for professional learning, collaboration, and growth. The 2026 Summit focused on grading, assessment, and empowering student voice.
The 2027 U.P. Principals’ Summit is scheduled for February 25, 2027at Marquette-Alger RESA. Registration opens December 2026 through Wisdomwhere — keynote and session details will be announced as the event approaches.
Myron Dueck
Myron Dueck keynoted the 2026 Summit, sharing his 25 years of practitioner and leadership experience helping educators generate ideas and navigate issues surrounding grading, assessment, reporting, and student voice.
Myron’s published work includes numerous journal articles and his best-selling book, Grading Smarter, Not Harder — Assessment Strategies that Motivate Kids and Help Them Learn (ASCD, 2014). His second book, Giving Students a Say! Smarter Assessment Practices to Empower and Engage was released in January of 2021.

The 2026 Summit ran over two days at Marquette-Alger RESA.
Day 1
Thursday, February 26
8:00 AM – 3:00 PM
A full day of principal leadership sessions, breakout workshops, and collaborative learning with fellow U.P. school leaders.
Day 2
Friday, February 27
8:00 AM – 12:00 PM
Half-day morning sessions continuing the professional learning and closing with key takeaways for school improvement.
